Current Freshmen and Sophomores

As you begin the high school journey, parents and students alike already have questions related to college applications - what courses should I choose to best position myself for my college or career of choice? Should I do summer internships or special programs? What about volunteer work and extracurricular activities?

I can help with all these questions (and many more!) as they arise. I begin working with families and getting to know their students as early as freshman year of high school (but don't worry if you are a junior or even senior - students can start with me during that time as well). Typically we would meet a few times a year during freshman and sophomore years to begin the process of understanding what courses to take and what your goals are for eventual college applications and beyond. It is a very exciting time and I am honored to help families along the way.

Current juniors

During a student's junior year, the college process is getting underway. Students work with me to build a balanced list of colleges to which they want to apply based on academic fit, social fit, and financial fit. They try to visit a few schools to get a sense of what they like in a campus and what is not going to work for them. I can help determine entrance exam choice and timing, as well as whether to submit for schools that are test-optional. By the end of junior year, students and families will have a nice, balanced list of schools to which the student will be applying. The summer following junior year we will work together to develop essay ideas that represent who your student is inside and outside the classroom - what their passions are and what they will offer to their new college community.

current seniors

Starting the summer before senior year and going all the way through the essays, applications, supplementary materials, interviews, and making a final decision from a student's list of acceptances, I am there to help. This year especially can be very daunting for families during what is an emotionally exciting and scary time. Students and families will meet with me anywhere from 5-25 times during the year depending on how much guidance and help they require or desire. Some families just want to check in every once in awhile to make sure things are going smoothly and some want to meet weekly to go over deadlines, rewrite essays, talk about college options and financial aid, and more. I am flexible and can work with each family's and student's particular needs.
